A good solid shoe! The Merrell Riot is a comfortable, solid shoe that provides reasonable arch and good lateral support, and firm footing. While the shoe doesn't feel "squishy" (a plus) when walking/hiking like some shoes, it could use deeper padding inside under the foot (a minus). Looks are great, not "over the top", although the extra loop on the tongue is a little strange (I cut it off!).
